Meet the Principal

Chad Detloff is an education and leadership consultant, career educator, and nonprofit executive with more than twenty years of experience partnering with K–12 schools and mission-driven organizations to advance global learning; leadership capacity; and inclusive, culturally responsive practice through strategic planning, organizational development, and intercultural education.

  • "[Chad’s] session was the best example of teaching I've ever seen. That is how we should all be teaching - getting people to think and to figure things out - not lecturing, not telling people, just getting people to raise questions, discuss, and see things from new points of view. It was brilliant. Sure, the point of the workshop was to think about risk, not teaching methods, but [Chad] succeeded brilliantly in the former, because [he] did such a great job of teaching the topic - by getting us to think."

—School Administrator from York House School (BC, Canada)

  • "[Chad’s] presentation and facilitation of group activities was, in my opinion, the best I’ve seen for such an anxiety driven subject. Plenty of good takeaways from today… like green, yellow, red rules… I’ve been thinking about how to categorize travel rules and expectations and that incredibly simple method he mentioned was fantastic!"

—Teacher from Palmer Trinity School (FL, USA)

  • "Thank you once again for the incredibly insightful presentation yesterday. My partner said that it was one of the best workshops she’s attended in the past twenty years, and I completely agree. I took more than two pages of notes—the concepts of "school minus" and "school plus" offered such a clear and simple way for setting expectations across our community."

—School Administrator from Saint Mary’s Hall (TX, USA)

  • "I brought Chad to our school in November for risk management training with our trip leaders as well as our school administration. Chad was able to review the itinerary of our upcoming trips and tailored case studies accordingly - making the discussions all the more real. This was important for our school as we're moving in the direction of, though not there yet, a school-wide travel policy. It was well worth the investment and I'm deeply appreciative of this partnership."

—Administrator from Lake Forest Academy (IL, USA)

  • "Chad’s session received RAVE reviews from our staff - even the most skeptical ones. We would definitely love to have Chad back sometime soon - well worth it and important."

—Administrator from Calgary French and International School (Calgary, CA)

  • "We hosted a regional training in January with about 40+ trip leaders attending. Chad was fabulous, and the feedback was very positive. He uses examples of his own travel with students, making it very real!"

—Administrator from Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (MA, USA)
